Balum is Back!

Well friends, it's been a long time. So long that people have begun to suspect that Balum saddled up his roan and rode off for good.

Well, he didn't. He's just been thrown off his schedule, like all of us. This last year has been a trying time; I lost my apartment in CA, moved back to Michigan to take over the farm, I spent a heck of a long time on AlbaMar (which you should check out if you haven't yet, it's awesome!), and my editor had a baby which has kept him quite busy.

But hell, Balum can't be kept down. He's back in the ninth book titled Crooked Games. Last we saw of him was in #8 of the series (Balum's Harem), where he and Joe battled Big Tom's men in Hell Country. Now he's on his way back to Cheyenne, back to Angelique. But it's a long road there, especially when riding with a broken arm, cracked ribs, and a head wound. If those were the extent of Balum’s worries he might just grit his teeth and keep moving. But behind him are four men intent on killing, and ahead of him a traveling carnival show full of crooks and conmen, all of them heading to Denver where they plan to fleece Balum’s friends with their crooked games.

And then there’s the gun. The wrong gun. All his life Balum has worn a Colt Dragoon revolver. But that’s gone, replaced by a weapon with a different weight, a different feel, a different balance. The longer he wears it, the closer he brings himself to death.

In such dire straits he makes his way through backward towns, where deadbeat sheriffs test his patience, lustful women attempt to seduce him, where a shot of whiskey sits just around the corner, and where a good plug of tobacco is a prize hard to come by.

I hope you enjoy this book, and if you do I'll ask you this one favor. Please leave a review. It's the biggest way you can support the Balum series, and it means a lot to me.

So go on now, get yourself a shot of whiskey and a plug of tobacco and get to reading. There's a lot of catching up to do!
