I read my first Western around the age of ten. It was a L’Amour, one of the Sacketts. I’ve been hooked ever since.
I write the type of Western novel that I like to read; full of grit, anti-heroes, realistic violence, and the never-ending lure of adventure beckoning just around the corner. The Balum Series is explicitly sexual, the rest are not.
I include many of my favorite elements: cattle drives, drifters, gold, gunfights, saloons. There is always room for sultry women, for badguys you love to hate, for unexpected changes of fortune.
